COKE SANS SUGAR is an innovative typeface created through artificial intelligence, developed by Espadaysantacruz Studio in collaboration with AKQA and 1stAveMachine for Coca-Cola Zero Sugar. Part of the global "Best Coke Ever?" campaign, the project aimed to give the beverage its own unique voice through a distinctive visual identity. The creation process involved capturing over 100,000 images of iconic Coca-Cola Zero elements, such as bubbles, fizz, and condensation. Using neural networks for object detection, these images were analyzed to identify shapes that could represent letters of the Latin alphabet. As part of the team, I developed the algorithm responsible for object detection, ensuring precise recognition and extraction of these unique shapes. This critical step in the process enabled the seamless transformation of visual elements into typographic forms. The resulting typeface was used across advertising materials, including outdoor campaigns, giving Coca-Cola Zero a striking and authentic visual presence. This project demonstrates how AI can revolutionize graphic design and branding, merging technology and creativity to deliver memorable and innovative visual experiences.
