1KWhat! is a smart plug designed to limit energy consumption by cutting off power once connected devices reach a 1kWh limit, thereby promoting responsible energy use and encouraging sustainable habits. Developed by Espadaysantacruz Studio in collaboration with VCCP Madrid and EIT InnoEnergy, the device features a small display where users can observe a countdown as they approach the 1kWh consumption threshold. Users can interrupt and resume consumption with the same or different electrical appliances until the 1kWh limit is reached, at which point the device acts as a firewall and indicates that consumption has ended. As a Tecnical Director at Espadaysantacruz Studio, I oversaw the full development of the device, including technical specifications, firmware programming, and sensor integration.
